7A-FE swap to a 3SGTE?

I'm the owner of a 96' celica ST liftback (yeah ugh ST)... So I was wondering what the difference was between the 5S-FE and the 7A-FE engines? Did I get the bad end of the stick with this engine?

Id also like to know if it would be possible to swap in a 3SGTE engine into the place of my 7A-FE? Without any MAJOR modification? I keep seeing them on ebay and think, thats about how much a turbocharger would run anyway... so I'd like to learn more.

I was curious about that too.

How much harder, or easier, would it be to swap the 3S-GTE with either the ST or GT? Thanks.

St come with A series engine -> 7A-FE 1.8L 115HP ~120lbft
GT, GTS come with S series engine -> 5S-FE 2.2L 130HP 140lbft
AllTrac come with S Series engine -> 3S-GTE

Same series engine share same engine mounts. So swap is a "drop in". You'll still need ECU and/or tranny.
So swapping a S series into a ST will mean cutting and welding engine mounts and tranny mounts. You'll need tranny and ECU for sure with the ST.

LOL "too much power for a FWD car"!!!

Yeah buddy, more than 200hp and your car will just blow right up!

No, it's not to much power, however you'd be smart to get an LSD (Quaife would be great) so that you can put the power to the ground better.

Another option if you don't want to go with the 3SGTE is one of the 4AGE engines. They will bolt right in since they are A engines. You have a few choices and the engines are quite inexpensive. Email me if you would like more info.

no such thing as too much power in a FWD car...just not enough traction..throw in some 235 sitcky rubber, weight reduction, and lean forward and you;ll be fine
