tpyota celica engine light
Have a 2001 celica. At 39000 miles, engine light came on for a few weeks and was told by dealership that i needed four new fuel injectors. the car was out of warranty, so they replaced them for labor charges only. OK, it's now two years later, engine lights are on again for a few weeks and they tell me I need four more fuel injectors. Now at 80000 miles. Anybody know enough about these cars to tell me if this makes any sense? I have regularly schedule maintenance at Toyota, I'm the only driver, I use quality gasoline. My complaints with the service dept. are that they never replaced the dust guard after any oil changes and I've always had electrical problems with the car. Are the fuel injectors in this car electrical? Do svc. visits. include cleaning fuel injectors? Any help on this subject will be appreciated.

I would buy a handheld code scanner, about $70, and see what code you are pulling or go to pep boys or autozone etc and have them diagnose it. It is also possible your dealer just removed and cleaned your old injectors and the reinstalled them. Look online there are several places that rebuild injectors. They are pretty easy to install. :D

hmmm, id ask for the old injectors , to see if it really is that,
i have never had a problem with my injectors,2001 GT 67,000km, i guess in theory dust could be getting up in there and causing problems, Did they take ur dust guard????? not sure if they inspect the injectors in the maintenance service, but i too get them to do all my servicing. so far no problems

Update....after putting the new fuel injectors in4 days ago, the darn check engine light came on again today. I took the car back and they called to tell me that when they ran the diagnostic test, the code PO402 came up. Anyone educated enough to know what that means? I called the Customer Service office in Ca. to see if the problems could be a mfg. defect. The rep. there said she's filing an investigation of the Svc. Dept. who worked on the car. Said she thought they should be doing more than just stating codes to me and telling me what I owe them. What seemed strange to her was that since June, when they worked on my car, the Day Runner lights (which were being repaired due to a recall), never worked properly and my high-beam indicator stayed on (even though the high beams never came on) The only time it went out is when I actually turned on the lights. Could they have done something to cause more electrical troubles that necessitated the fuel injectors????Thanks for all your input so far! i'll keep you posted.

I am having a similar problem with check engine light I have a 2000 celica GT and it seems to be slugish starting and revs high when in nuetral around 1.5k to 2k RPM
it almost seems like it has a power distribution problem, it sometimes takes off others just kinda takes off in a slight struggle. Was wondering if u were having same or if it was just me but I would like an update on your status with that problem if u would not mind. And if its not same I wonder if you guys have any idea seeing as this is ur thread I will start another if you would like.

engine light
To be honest, the car was running a little sluggish prior to the new fuel injectors, however, I am still having trouble with the Engine light coming (this is after 4 new injectors). After more research, I think they can be cleaned as opposed to replacing them. Perhaps checking into that will save you. How many miles do you have on the car? I read that they're usually good for up to 100,000+.

40k is what i currently have on my car I live in turkey so finding an english speaking toyota tech is like finding a needle in a hay stack so I am forced to do the work myself which i do not mind but it also has a rough time starting sometimes too its wierd thought starter but had it checked and its good. thats why I am also optting to engine swap to something with more horse power plus crate engines in my opinion are a little easier to work on warranty is void alrdy. I have no clue on this problem for 1 I mean checked on as much as i could with my limited resources.
