Removing the standard CD Player
I recently boiught a 2003 Celica (UK) and would like to fit my MP3 player from my last car. i've bought the fascia adaptor plate but I'm not sure how to remove the existing audio unit.
I dont want to just attack it with a screwdriver or the dashboard will be damaged. How do I remove the existing audio unit without causing any damage to the surround? thanks David |

1. Take off ur shift knob.
2. Take out your ashtray and remove the 2 screws behind it. 3. pull up on the plastic around the shifter. You should be able to get to the cigarette lighter and unplug it, then pull out that plate. 4. Pull the knobs for the heater control and the button for the recirculate air. 5. Remove the 2 screws from behind the heater controls. 6. Gently pull up the rest of the plastic plate. 7. Remove the 4 bolts holding the stock deck in place.

Thanks Ed.
That was my next question. I have a Sony head unit to install and wondered how easy it would be to attach to the existing loom., My mate is an electrician and has fitted dozens of audoi system but do i need to buy an adaptor of some kind? Was also having a read through the procedure for removing the existing unit - does it make a difference that my ventilation controls are all buttons and no knobs? It means that the whole lot is electronis behind that panel. Is that likely to cause me some major headaches? thanks |
