custom exhausts?

i'm planning on getting an exhaust for my car next month. My friend told me about custom exhausts and how his friend got one for like 260 the brand is magnaflow but it doesn't have the decals on the tip or nething and he said it sounds really good. I want the deep sound. should i just fork up like 650 and get a name brand exhaust or just go with the custom? i'm not TOO into have name brand parts. i still want good quality but i'm not to worried about having a greddy exhaust or anything. any suggestions?
