turbo/supercharger/(twin turbo?)
Hello ppl!
I need some help here! I have a 2003 GTS TRD celica. it's auto transmission and i think this makes my car slow. is it a good idea to get turbo/supercharger/ or TT on auto car? and is there anyway i can make my auto car go faster? i saw someone mentioning about a swap to 5spd, how much does that coast? Thx for ur helP! :o |

If you're planning on swapping to 5spd..what i suggest you to do is to sell your car and buy a 5spd car. I think you will save more money and headache doing that. If you want forced induction in your car with the auto, your best bet will be the supercharger.

Its not a kit for sale.... custom jobs are possible... i have looked into it however the cost skyrocketed to about 18 grand for a twin turbo setup and parts install... if n e one wants to waste there money on that... be my guest...i would just go a huge turbo and do internals and u are set

The supercharger works best for lower revving motors, because it's power increase is linear and is only about 50% efficient. Turbochargers are more around 70% efficient. Supercharges do work very well for street cars where instant power is needed, such as traffic. If you want more power fast with less worries, go for the supercharger. If you want the most power, you'll get a turbocharger. But be prepared to see more issues.

supercharger is better overall on this car since you cant run very high boost on it (from turbo) since the compression is already high. It makes the 7th gens sound like airplanes, pretty cool

well I prefer turbo myself but you need to change your pistons to low compression pistons before you can really boost it. I dont know if there is actually an aftermarket kit made for the 7th gen celi and if there is I haven't heard of it, so most are done custom. The supercharger is a better option for the celica because of the problems with the turbo set up (you cant boost it that much). So unless you got ALOT of money to spend on custom engine work go for the supercharger

you can run both turbos and superchargers at low boost on most any engine application because your not that far from atmospheric pressure. *increasing boost on either, in combination with higher compression, increases the risk of predetonation. *you'll know when your running too much boost if you hear a pinging sound from the engine bay OR if you see major power spikes on a dyno graph. however, pinging can mean many different variables that need to be checked.
