Painting the exterior of a car

just curious ahs anyone done this themselves?? im just curious to if i would have to remove the clear coat somehow or just paint over it??? if i have to remove whats the best way to go about that??

gonna airbrush over the scuffs and scratches on my rear bumper

i wouldn't airbrush that...

i would sand with 400 till the paint was off the whole bumper then respray the whole thing.. it's one peice so it's easy..once that's done clear it, wet sand it, buff the shit outta her and voila.. factory finish

i jus thave bad luck when it comes to painting and matching colours, i just dont want my car to be 3 tone paint now

how well does rubbing compounds work???

theres no produuct that lossens paint and spreads it??? cause theres one scratch the rest is scuffed more or less

i guess it has becoma a winter project then, where i will have to strip it to nothing and attempt to match the paint, or just pay the $500 to get it fixed

take it to a shop n make friends w the guy then ask him if he does side jobs

the shop that i take mine to pretty much does $200 per item

item = bumper, quarter panel, roof, hood, etc.

well i looked it over again today and what i thought was a scratch was really his paint fused on mine lol so i just scraped it off its not really noticeable so im gonna try a rubbing compound and see if that works, its mainly his paint in mine
