gauge mounting?

i have a nice shiney new gauge here now courtesy of AZNDRED... trying to figure out where to put it... it's a 2 /58 inch sport comp gauge...

I DO NOT WANT TO A PILLER MOUNT IT!!!

i was thinking about it being mounted in the stereo area abouve my oil pressure gauge but then though why not cup mount it and put it on the dash or bolted to the drivers bump on teh dash...

the cuup i would probably use would be the carbonfiber autometer cup, it's really cf not a sticker and it's only like 40 bucks USD so it might be worth it if it would look right

Any other ideas or opinions would be good right now... as this should be in this week before i start to go nuts on everything else that is coming up.

see my thinking is that i hate people that have tachs on thier cars then add a huge one beside it for no reason.. it's like they are proud of thier rpm or somthing.... but i would be proud of what this gauge says to the people that know cars... it would be speaking volumes to the right eyes....

but then i am not sure if it would be lonely and i do want one more gauge and it will be auto meter too but i dont think it will be the same size at all..

do you think that

A) a cup on the dash would look tacky?... even if it isn't a tach?

B) can you get away with two diffrent size gauges? as long as they match faces and cups and rings?

i would put it there but then it's really low and out of sight for the driver... i know it's jsut a glance away but i am a very heads up driver.

if i was doing it down there i would jsut make a template which is easy as hell with all my tools here but it's more about the use of the gauges that i want to see prorperly.... as you mentioned all it take is one spike or a few seconds with out fuel that could cost me

put it on the cluster hump. You want a functional gauge, thats just a blink away. Plus on the stand it should look alright. The only thing you need to worry about is the wire out the back.

idealy all these little mods will pay off by making the car one of the cleaner 15 year old cars around here that can run with the big boys

i thouhg about that... btu seeing that it's a mech gauge.... all it is gogin to be is a nylon hose and power and ground for lighting... they can all be fed into a small loom then a gromet on the dash would let it tuck away better.
