Check Engine Light....
So I had my CAI installed today, weee.. The first couple times I turned my car on, there was no check engine light, then it came up. From my understanding, this is common with the GT's and the CAI.. I know there's a section under the manual thing that mentions it but no reason as to why/how to get rid of it. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Re: Check Engine Light....
i think it has something to do with the sensor that goes in the intake. (sorry can't remember what its called to late) got to make sure it was installed right in the new intake

Re: Check Engine Light....
Well I'm sure it's right.. If you try deleting it do they come back? The obvious reason is that there's colder air coming through and it's throwing shit off... but otherwise, any more in-depth reason?

Re: Check Engine Light....
you can reset it but if you don't fix the problem it just comes right back on. i'm not to sure if its something more in-depth or not. i'm not to familiar with 7th gens.

Re: Check Engine Light....
the cold air intake shouldnt throw a code because of the colder air... if so it would be on all winter
your problem likely lies in a missing air intake temp sensor provision on your CAI, alot of cheaper built intakes will not have a bung for this requiring you to drill and gromment a hole for it. Im not sure of this on the 7th gen but i would look into that YouTube - How to install an AEM cold air intake on a 7th gen Toyota celica also check that video out, it has a step by step install of an AEM kit

Re: Check Engine Light....
When I put on my short ram I took out my battery so I could degrease my engine compartment so after 2 and a half hours of cleaning I put it back and put on the short ram and then reconnected it. My light was on for a day or so and then went off and has stayed off. Im thinking in the newer 7th gens like ours the computers have a bit more give

Re: Check Engine Light....
Well pull the code. See what code your throwing. Once you know that then you can figure out if its a intake problem or something else.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Carroll, as I previously mentioned, I already saw that.
I'll have to check out the code on Monday or something

Re: Check Engine Light....
sorry about that Squishy,
does your CAI use an oiled filter, if so its possible that the oil could have gotten onto the element of the IAT sensor and is causing it to read improperly alot of installs suffer this fate until the filter has been run for awhile, you could clean the sensor with a Mass Airflow cleaner and try reinstalling it...

Re: Check Engine Light....
I don't believe the filter is oiled. It could be what you suggested the first time, although I'll have to talk to my friend that installed it when he gets back to check it out, we knew it was going to come up.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Hey Squish when I installed my SRI I had that exact same issue. I noticed that the little air hose that has the blue and black little filter thing on it was what was causing it to pop the codes. Odds are it will be P171 so that would have to do with the mixture being to lean. So if that's the case just cap that little line off and you should be running fine.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Really then the only other thing I could say would have to be check that there are no breaks in the lines and that all the fittings are tight there is no uncontrolled air going into the engine.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Sometimes when I'm idling like when I got to work this morning I noticed the car jitters a bit... idling too low? It doesn't die or anything though

Re: Check Engine Light....
It should Idle around 650 700 ish without ac. With ac is 800 750 700 range. Could it be pulling more and having your foot on the brake loosely? When I put on the short ram it seemed to do something along the lines when I did that but it was just that; Holding on too loose
