Re: Check Engine Light....
I think I can do that once I get the blue coupler, since everything will have to come off again. Thanks

Re: Check Engine Light....
yeah I left but the first thing I saw was that Blue connector. I didnt use it PERIOD.. its been hanging up serving no purpose. I say disconnect the blue hook up the black connector in its place, Disconnect the battery to reset the ECU(possibly replace the ECU hoses, the 04 computer may be a bit more sensitive than the 01) and I really think that will clear up your CEL. That blue connector was just like a BIG light bulb. Lots of people have mentioned they hooked that up and had the CEL. But if you use the black one I think you'll be in the clear.

Re: Check Engine Light....
See I didn't use my red one for that exact reason. I stuck with the black hose cause I knew it had proper flow.

Re: Check Engine Light....
wait this got serious again after page 4? I was having so much fun reading this back n forth between squish and J n 13. By the way going off topic again but I'm sure the way they pronounce "celica" in this commercial would be the proper way hahahah

Re: Check Engine Light....
Hahah, way to be.. That's actually the way we don't pronounce it, although some people up here say it like that. Anyways! What black hose are you guys talking about?

Re: Check Engine Light....
We are talking about the blue hose you have on to be changed back to the black one.

Re: Check Engine Light....
NO NO STOP
The Hose Is not what I was talking about. If you look at the AEM CAI technical Difficulties page in the 7th Gen repair section. Someone mentions Not to use the Blue Connector.. Not a HOSE. ![]() That blue connector needs to be SWAPPED for the Black connector. You DO NOT RE- USE the BLUE little CLIP ON CONNECTOR. Sorry I'm if I seem a little tense, But I had to wait 7 hours to come back and tell you thats your issue cause the computers at work filter Blog sites. |

Re: Check Engine Light....
We switched the connectors around, unhooked the battery, etc, the CEL is gone for the moment, although as I was sitting letting it idle, the car was jittering more and the intake was making like sucking air noises within intervals of ~2-3 or so seconds.. Is it suppose to do that? I took it around the block to see if it would make a difference but it was still doing it when I got back to my garage... ?!

Re: Check Engine Light....
Sounds like a vacuum leak & vacuum leaks will def give you a lean condition.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Ya squish you have to go through the hoses and check each individual one for a leak. It can be the slightest crack but with so much constant suction it will cause the crack to open at the given moment and when you shut the car off it will disappear again.

Re: Check Engine Light....
Well the Sucking of air is always gonna be there squish
And Thanks Dirt, I appreciate that alot. But no seriously I have 2 12's in my hatch, and the other day I was blaring my radio and I thought my window was cracked cause I could hear some whistling noise, But It was my intake as I was gassing through by some traffic. And They're exceptionally more noticeable than the stock intake. And even though your idling, I understand you Wouldn't be gassing the pedal, but at the same time your engine needs air. But hopefully the Black connector/Reset the ECU fixed your CEL. I really believe it would. |

Re: Check Engine Light....
Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to run some errands so I'll be shutting my car on/off, I'll let you know when I get home! And I don't think it's any of the hoses, it's the intake itself making the noise

Re: Check Engine Light....
Ya squish that is just how the intake sounds. It isn't limited like the OEM intake box is.

Re: Check Engine Light....
:) glad to get that CEL fixed up. Oh and I dunno if your celi has a full exhaust set up, but if it doesnt and you plan to get one, Be careful which you get, lol cause someone has mentioned on here getting an APEX and his CAI was louder than his exhaust
sorta crappy |
