lowering springs
I'm thinking about getting the TRD lowering springs (00602-48130-015). Here's my question: If I get the springs does that mean I have to upgrade the struts to high-performance struts? Or will it be okay?

This depends on the spring drop think rule of thumb is less than 50mm and the stock shocks should be ok over that and they will wear.
TRD is -20mm all around TTE about 30-32mm various spring manufactures have different drops. I'm running P.I.'s -30mm never had a problem over 2 years the car has even had all 4 wheels off the floor and landed ok (I REALLY HATE FECKING SPEED HUMPS OVER HERE) Also remeber if you lower than 50mm you will need camber adjustment.
