Re: Replacement CAT?
Jingles: I'll give you the skinny on aftermarket replacements. My bro in law works for Toyote in the service dept & he knows a lot about Toyota's. I own a 2000 Celica GT so I have picked his brain from time to time and here is what he as well as others I know through him at Toyota say. DO NOT go aftermarket especially with things such as the Cat Converter. Toyota engines are very finely tuned so replacing, lets say the cat converter, with an aftermarket one is almost asking for Check Engine Light code troubles. Dude I found this out the hard way. Spent $$ on an aftermarket Cat Converter, CIL came back and back and back untill I put a Toyota Cat Converter and whammo,, CIL gone for good and truthfully it runs better with the correct Cat. Jingles,, I know all too well the expense of these parts but in my opinion,, you end up doing the job once with no problems. Hope this helps.

Re: Replacement CAT?
dirt: what kind did u use? cuz i now for the gt, the cat is incorporated into the mid pipe. this like 7 feet long. i haven't checked with my parts department, but i know thats not gonna be cheap. i am looking at doin a completed custom exhaust with a magnaflow cat. they're only 100 bucks...

Re: Replacement CAT?
cb $100.00 FOR MAGNE FLO? wOW,, i WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE MORE. Oops on the CAPS. This was a while back & I can't remember the price but it was a one piece (a 7 footer like you said) from WALKER EXHAUST. I have used many of walker products in the past but never on a Toyota and never had a problem, but then again I have been lucky enough in life that the CAT for my Celica was the first cat I have ever had to replace and I'm 47 yes old. So long stoy short, the after market Walker Cat gave me repeated CEL for "poor Cat Performance" or something like that then I put in the Toyota replacement and never had another problem ($1,000.00 tho,, I better not have any more Problems) :) I would assume that Magna Flow is probably a better product as I think Walker is more of a cheap kinda fix. Anyway there is my story and I'm stickin to it!!! LOL

Re: Replacement CAT?
if you are willing to drop some dough, trial makes a mid section pipe going from header flange, to axleback flange. *last i knew*

What code is the CEL coming up with? If you need to you can go to either Autozone or Advance Auto and they will scan the OBDII and give you the code for free. Mookie

true, but at the same time though, the age old addage of price for performance applies. all the parts they list, they use on their shop/track car.
