Re: proformance chip
there is no performance chip made for the 7th gen celica. you would need to do a custome tune after mods are done on a piggyback or stand alone ecu. the "performance chips" on ebay are only resistor chips. they had extra electrical resistance to the sensor they hook up to. they actually do nothing for you at all. if you wanna get one go to radio shack they only cost like 50 cents there and it will do the same thing as the ebay ones.

Re: proformance chip
As ak said. There's only a illusion. Gotta ask tho what mods do you have . Standalones and piggybacks are usualy good for turbo applications. If you have a na setup. Id save my money.

Re: proformance chip
I agree with all these guys. From what I have been seeing is a stock GT (1ZZ) engine is already tuned to the max so the only way to get more performance is to modify the engine first (add a turbo for example) then you will have to modify the computer management system (by either adding/changing the chip or having the computer reprogrammed) to match your modifications. I don't know much about it in detail but it is one of the first things these guys told NOT to do as I was hoping to just plug in a chip and have more power. Too bad it's not that easy huh? Hope this helps.

Re: proformance chip
I like to say power is earned. If you want more power do some research. :) were not gonna just tell you what to buy to earn 300hp or 500hp. That's earnt by learning and spending time doing research and knowing the mechanics of your motor.

Re: proformance chip
thats what i did i researched the best parts i would need for what i plan on doing. i have the entire list of what i need to hit my goal. figuring out your goal is the first and most important part when you build ur car or you could end up wastingmoney on parts you will just replace later.

Re: proformance chip
LOL My list changes from day to day (or actually paycheck to paycheck) depending on the $$ situation. LOL I'd love to put on a better sounding exhaust but damn,, from what I have seen it's pretty expensive (around $300.00 to as hi as $600.00 i think) just for a muffler? Oh well,, they say it's good to want right? LOL

Re: proformance chip
My list just changed a lot. I saw a Bugatti Veyron the other day on the highway and suddenly I felt like I was driving a YUGO. So now I cut my list down to only one item,,, a Bugatti Veyron. I know it's not a Celica but damn,, if you saw what I saw,, your list would be the same too.

Re: proformance chip
so has there ever been someone who built an n/a 1zz? im afraid once the port and pollish and stage 2 cams are done, i may be running lean, not sure the stock injectors will cut it... or the stock computer? so how do i go about knowing how big of injectors i will need or whuch computer or piggy back?

Re: proformance chip
ur best bet is to do a piggyback or tune after u do those mods to get the most out of them. u shouldnt need injectors much bigger then stock though. i would ask mwr or a performance shop for some advice on the size. plus to run larger injectors properly u will need a piggyback ecu to control the injectors properly since the stock computer wont be able to control them right.
