gts conversion done, need helppp please

ahh im so frustrated

i have a 00 celica GT and got a GTS conversion as my engine was KNOCKING more than a jehovas witness....anyway, got the GTS engine put in, they changed the tranny to 6 speed and also the ECU...

now the check engine light is ON and the car is hard to take off in first, the rest of the gears are fine and lift appears to work.

i dont know what the problem is and toyota cant even figure out the code..

my questions to everyone experienced, what exactly are teh parts needed for the conversion to work?. is the Intake the same? how about the ECU wiring? we bought a new ECU 01 gts and just plugged in the wires to that....do we need a new wiring harness and everything?

plz advise

thanks

not sure what to do but just try disconnecting your battery for over a minute and let the computer reset its self and then see what happens

i can't believe you did not buy a new wiring harness. it is essential.

my car is in the shop right now having the same conversion done (although i'm keeping my 5spd)

here is what you need:

engine with intake and exhaust manifolds
ecu
COMPLETE wiring harness
passanger side motor mount
gauge cluster

i would not drive it if it is knocking. perhaps you need the knock sensor from toyota?

I imagine the gauge cluster is set up different speedwise also. On my GT at 3:00 on the spedo gauge it reads 240kmh, wheras on a GT-S it reads 260 at 3:00 on the dial. They both start at 0kmh at 6:00 on the gauge so the scale is different.

knocking

i agree with the complete wiring harness, but what do u mean about not being able to take off in first...the car is all electronic, you need a gtswireing harness that should clear all your problems...also
are all your plug pluged into the sencors that could be your check engine light...i bet that there not all in ...the gt wiring harness wont plug into all the gts motor and trannie sencors..

He said it was his OLD engine that was knocking. Yes, you need the GTS harness, it should have come with the engine.

LOL "knocking more than a Jehovah's Witness"! That would be me...

It will bolt up to the 5-speed, but it won't have the ideal gear ratios of the 6-speed. It's easier to mount that way though.
