Port the whole head. Won't do much just port the exhaust. I know a good shop for that. $650 to P&P my 5S head.

Maybe later on down the road. Just need to free up the exhaust a little. Gonna add a new catback as well.

Shop = ?

Probably. I paid $150 to P&P the intake manifold and TB also.
He claims 20% gain.

I can find a spare head but it's from a 1st gen..dont know if they're both the same..
I have to do the head gasket so either way, I have to take off the head...I dont know if it's worth dropping the whole thing..

As long as you can get belt cover off, its ok. Need to remove the engine mount on that side also. Wiring harness need to come off. Fuel rail, coolant hose etc. By the time you finish, all you need is disconnect the shift cable, power steering and 3 engine mount to pull the engine. Remember the intake manifold gotta come out.

I won't. P&P is a pro-job. A good job will give you more power. A bad job will distroy the engine or waste money with no gain. Unless he can give you dyno prove of gain.
The best P&P is Extruded Honing somewhere in US.
Toyota do oil change for $50, the kid next door do it for $10, which one will you go?

I believe he just "polish" the intake manifold for 60US.

A proper P&P on the head involve multi-angle valve job which will totally screwup the engine if done by hand.

It's just for the header.

Exhaust header? No need. Header should have bigger port then the head so exhaust gas won't reverse back into the cylinder.
For intake manifold, you'll need to port match it again after you port the head. Do everything one shot later.

Well it seems there's about 5whp from doing this. http://www.newcelica.org/forums/show...threadid=60156

The header may have bigger ports than the head but I believe all they're trying to do is match it w/ the manifold gasket. Those few mm seem to make a difference.

after (below):

I was gonna do this to mine as well it is just eh flange that needs to be ported to match the piping. You can do it yourself it is not hard at all just takes a steady hand.

BTW don't bother p&p the intake manifold it dosen't do anything at all. I had mine done i have not seen any difference from stock.
