flywheel
aside from the weight, what justifies the price of a flywheel?
i noticed the fidanza is 7-8lbs vs trd's 9lbs.. obviously the trd is more expensive post any comments other than "u pay for the trd name" type of feedback thanks

i dont want to sound typical, but you DO pay more for the TRD name. fidanza is the industry leader for lightened flywheels. heck, even Clutchmasters flywheels are just re-branded Findanza flywheels.
lighter isn't ALWAYS better when it comes to flywheels, because momentum is a big factor with the role of the flywheel, but i guess it also depends on your budget. the price of a flywheel is determined by the manufacturer. i dont think it has anything to do with the manufacturers materials, since most flywheels are alumiunum, so i can't imagine it being material costs. i have a Fidanza flywheel in my 94 V6 Camry and i love it. it gives great throttle response (almost too good since most passengers complain that they feel when im on and off the throttle, even though i dont) and practically no torque lost. It is a V6 after all, but im just saying that ive noticed no disadvantages from my flywheel. my suggestion... go for the Fidanza. Ive never seen a TRD part that wasn't overpriced (except for my Camry's rear sway bar... $160 USD.. pretty good). good luck. |

i think alot of the price of TRD parts is TOYOTA R&D money... think about how much more they would spend than fidanza to be sure that their parts are flawless. they have more of a rep to keep up seeing that they do EVERYTHING.
but yeah i'll go with 99% name...

Personally I would suggest going with the fidanza rather than TRD.
I've got the TRD yes its very nice but the fidanza would be more noticable better performance. The fidanza would allow your car to be and rev alot quicker on a flat straight road. But the TRD would probably gain more of an advantage up a hill. *The rev gain and the rev drop off on the fidanza is gonna be very noticable. *Some people have experienced stalling and noticed it being more difficult remaining in LIFT. From a F.I. Turbo point of view a heavier fly wheel such as TRD would be better suited due to the momentium. *Also heard because Chrome-alloy is more dense is subject to less vibration than alloy. *I'm not too sure if this is true but peeps have noticed more noise with alloy flywheels. *Basically it depends on what you intend to do with your car. *Hope this helps. *If I had a choice again I would go with fidanza, Toms or RPS.
