Tips are welcome

Hey guys I'm pretty new and noticed a lot of sites recommended looking at this. I have been reading a lot of the post and finally decided to make one of my own.

I own a 2001 Celica GT and looking to do upgrades. So far all i have is a Skunk2 exhaust and looking to figure out whats the best way to get more power, i know the GT isn't as fast as the GT-S but i was looking at doing upgrades to my GT. So I want to know some suggestions you guys have for where i should start.

Re: Tips are welcome

the cold air intake is a waste of money but sounds good. headers maybe? or if money isn't the issue you could go all out and boost it or put it on some juice

Re: Tips are welcome

the differences in power of the 1zz and the 2zz don't seem that significant, you could attempt to swap motors if you really wanted, but I don't see a reason.

140 hp compared to 180 hp isn't that bad, you won't get as much power out of it, but boosting might help.

If you want to see the spec breakdown Toyota Celica Online: 7th stats

I personally don't see why you'd want to pump more power out with these gas prices

but good luck and welcome

Re: Tips are welcome

Thanks for the reply! But what type of modifications do you suggest that would work best for the celica? My friend says its dumb to throw a turbo on because it will cut the engine life in half, and told me to just get all the minor things...

So what exactly do you suggest for the car, money isn't totally a problem but still, money is money...

Re: Tips are welcome

any type of power increase on the gt will require a turbo.

if you wanna go NA then swap the 1zz with a 2zz engine and trani and:

Daily Driver $50 - $2000
Step 1 - Injen CAI (AEM or E-bay w/ Blue bomber mod if you don't intend to continue to step 5 and beyond.)
Step 2- Exhaust - Magnaflow - RSR, something free flowing. TRD is not free flowing.
Step 3 - Ceramic coated PPE race header with NO cat.
If you can't afford PPE then Ceramic coated ported stock header with decat
Step 4 - Lightweight flywheel

Weekend Warrior $2000 - $4000
Step 5 - Power FC w/ higher rev limit
Step 6 - Cams - piper stage 3s.
MWR valves and springs
Circuitworx oil pump gear

Entry level race spec $4000 - $8000
Step 7 - Ported & polished head

Header port matched to head
Mahle 12.3:1 pistons
Polydyn or Swain ceramic coating on underside of head and valves & top of piston
Polydyn oil dispersant on crank and rods
A/C delete
Underdrive on water pump
Injectors
Fuel Pump
MWR bearings
