Transmission trouble?

Since I kida asked this mixed in with another question I wanted to seperate it to a new thread so anybody with knowledge in this area will be able to help. I have an 02 GT with 5spd, I have never owned a standard shift car so that is the one area of cars I don't have much knowledge in. My issue is I am getting a squeek/chirp sound especially in 1st nd 2nd up and down shifts. There is no rough clutch engagement and no real "bad" feeling in the shifter itself. I am a hardcore DIY er and hate to have to take it to a shop to get answers so any help will be much loved. I know it is hard to describe and it might not even be a problem, but I want to get some insight in case this is a sign of an upcoming problem. The car up and down shifts fine but this sqeek is for one, very annoying, and 2, worrying me that it may be a symptom of a major pproblem. Thank you.

JJ

Re: Transmission trouble?

its probably just the boots on the linkage
is it a constant noise or just at one point when moving

Re: Transmission trouble?

It is only during movement of the shifter when up or downshifting.

Re: Transmission trouble?

grease you shifter linkages with white lithum grease. the linkage is located just behind the air box. You should do this twice a year, and replace the linkage bushings with the solid brass ones from speedsource.
