New and question

Ok I was just given a 85 Celica GT? I think...not sure if it's the gt or gt-s...think gt tho...anyway, it needs work because it's been sitting for a while...someone give me some suggestions at to where to start just to make it a reliable fun thing to drive around, i'd also thought about a swap...what would be good to swap into this car? Not looking to spend a crap load of money but i'll spend some...anyway, just someone give me some suggestions please...thanks

honestly I haven't taken a good look at it...it is my gf's step dad's..he's just had it sittin in the yard for a LONG time...anyway, from what I know the body is in pretty decent shape and before it was sittin so long it did run...so I really won't know a whole lot about it until I get it to my house and check it out...but i think it's in decent shape for an 85 that's been sittin for God know's how long.

id start by seeing if it runs get new alternater batterie cap rotor wires ect..and go from their if you here any noises comeing from the engien id just try and pinpoint where they are and start building from their..i my self you do the basic tune up to see if it runs then id completely rebuild the head replace all gaskets clean all surfaces de grease everything and put it together id suggest going out and buying the chiltons or haynes manual for your car ..it has been a good help for me and im pretty sure it will be for you as well.

good luck with the car PM me if any questions

later Craig

removeing the exhaust and intake manifold, fuel rail, distributor, valuve cover, cams, then removeing the head then when your done you have to put all that back on and torque the head down properly but first set the timeing putting it all back on testing for good compression ..and oil change would be a good idea and a new fuel filter along with fresh fuel ...never no how bad it may be

what's the easiest way to get old fuel out? siphon? or hooking up a battery to the fuel pump and just take the hose off?
