New car, installing old stereo
I'm the proud new owner of a Silver 2001 GT-S. I had a 1990 GT-S. I have a Sony MEX-HD1 headunit from the old car I want to put in the new car. I have two adaptor's that made it work with the old car, but they will not work in the new one.
Am I going to have to splice/solder wires for this to work or is there a different adapter that I am not aware of? I just got back from circuit city and he wasn't sure either. He tried to sell me the same 2 adapters that I have already. These are the two adapters I have. Metra Sony Radio Wiring Harness Metra 1987-Up Toyota Vehicle Wiring Harness I've read a few things, and it seems I should already have everything I need to do this in 30 seconds. What am I missing? |

Re: New car, installing old stereo
Went to a local Audio store, they gave me a Metra 70-8113 that is the one I needed. Uses RCA plugs for the speakers instead of wiring. Required splicing 4 wires together, nothing tough at all. Don't have to do anything with the factory amp that's behind the glove box.
