yet ANOTHER cai cel question...

so ive never had any problems with cels after installing my cel (except when it went on for a day and turned off when my wheel well liner fell off), but about 4 days ago i hit a pot hole on the freeway and 5 minutes later a cel went on. it lasted until i unplugged the battery last night. so i have 2 questions:

1) how would hitting a pothole affect my airflow system? (i checked the intake for loose connections and leaks, there were none).

2) when i reset the battery, does it really recalibrate the MAF for the diameter of the cai, or did the cel just go away because my engine is not running lean "enough" to set the cel off?

the reason i ask is because i found this cool mod for cai's on nc.org, and was thinking of doing it to my intake in order to get the full potential out of my cai and not have my engine run lean. but if no cel's indicates the right fuel to air ratio, then i wont bother and will keep my stock intake intact.

anyways, it is definetly worth checking out, i'm just not sure if it would help if there are no cel's anyways

If you no longer have the CEL, I'd not worry about it. A CEL can come on for any number of reasons, Its a good idea to get an OBD reader to pull diagnostic codes. This saves you from assuming your CAI is the cause of all future CELs your car may present.

yea i was going to rent one from autozone since buying onme is kind of expensive, but since the cel disappeared theres nothing for me to read.. i guess i'll just assume it was the cai for the time being
