tiny problem

just intalled a AEM cold air intake today, runs great. everything was fine the whole day after driving around. the check engine light turns on right before i get home at 11. i dont understand why it suddenly comes on after its been fine the whole day. i figured if i installed it wrong the check engine light would have been on as soon as i started the car after installation. sooo any solutions out there?
thanks,
dave

Re: tiny problem

yea its a pretty common problem with cai's from what i've been reading. i installed an aem in my celi about a month or two ago, and never had any cel's until about a week ago, it came on for about a day, then turned off never to be seen again... hopefully.

but i would suggest browsing through previosu threads on this site about this subject and see what sounds most like ur situation.

from what ive gathered, try unplugging the battery for a bit to let the computer reset and usually that gets rid of the problem. if not, take it in to a shop where they can read which cel is coming up, then post another thread, and im sure one of the more experienced guys on here will help u out.

i wouldnt worry about it too much tho, good luck

Re: tiny problem

thanks, i'm not really worried about it because i know its hooked up right and working great, just seeing that light is annoying and its not supposed to be there anyways.

Re: tiny problem

it has to do with the wideness of the air intake normally your engine would want the 2" diameter gap i believe but the air intake is 2.75" so it throws off the sensor there is a modification for it just look around

Re: tiny problem

Ideally to solve this you need "fins" infront of the MAF sensor you could cut out your stock MAF sensor mount and fins from the stock air box and samco it to replace the AEM mount, else cut the AEM and have fins welded in then weld back up. hard to explain best have a look at your old air box and you will see the fins.
