low compression
I've got a '01 celica gt. A little history first i suppose.
AEM CAI and cat back exhaust are the only mods. Almost two years ago i started burning oil. The dealership replaced my PCV valve "still under warranty" and blamed that. Another 6 months later i scratched a rod and bearing and oil burning. they replaced it and said go on your merry way. 6 months after that and another rod and bearing scratched and replaced and ridiculous amounts of oil burning. The last time they replaced the rod and bearing, they blamed my CAI for the problem citing a dirty intake filter and threatened me saying that toyota usually denies any claims on a car that is not absolutely stock. So.... I replaced the filter, and sure enough a month later oil starts burning. My car burns 1 quart of oil every 400 miles. Now what the dealership is saying is that i have low compression in my pistons.. What I'm asking is this. 1. What would be the cause of low compression in the engine. 2. What steps can i take to push toyota to fix the problem "since my warranty isnt expired" so I can go on modifying my car without worrying about it dying on me. Any advice on this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time. I miss my celica ![]() |

Re: low compression
Shame Toyota does rectify all the pre 02 GT's with the piston ring and oval cylinder problem, cus alot of cars thousands I bet will suffer from this design flaw.
