auto to manual conversion

hey guys i need some help with a celica, i dont drive a celica myself i drive an accord 70 % modified, but anyways besides that my girlfriend has a celica that should is giving to me because she is getting a new car... and i plan on using that celica for racing and use my accord for car shows... its an automatic and i want to convert it into a manual.. now i dont know much about celicas (just some have some oil loss problems).. so how would i convert it and what is the parts i would need?? also how much u think i would spend buying parts for the conversion? another thing is would it be easierjust to buy a manual engine and just swap it? and what are the type of engines are available for celicas?? (for example hondas have h22 and f23 etc).. so help me out guys

Re: auto to manual conversion

there are 2 engiens in the 7th gen...

1zz for the GT
2zz for the GT-S

the 1zz has an available 5spd manual transmission and the 2zz has a 6 speed manual transmission. You can do a conversion but I have never done it before some other guys on the board might know more...Aside from the transmission i know you are going to need to make room for the extra pedal (dunno if there is a completely different pedal set for the manula transmission or if u can just add the clutch)

Anyway, my advice would be sell that one and buy a manual. For "racing", both engines can take boost and they have lots of kits online for them, the GT-S starts at 180 crank hp but has high compresson pistons so if u are going to turbo it u should get some lower compression pistons, but its fine for super charging as is.
