Spring problems

I just got my Skunk2 springs and attempted to put them on today. I started with the rear... and ended up with massive amounts of problems. Is it worth it to do all this work just for springs? or should i save up and get struts to go along with it and install it all at the same time? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Spring problems

what problems are you having? are these just the springs or are they the "coilover" - type sleeves?

Re: Spring problems

its supposed to be 2" or so

I plan to save up to get real coilovers, and this is just something for the time being. I'm not too worried about longevity. I'm just trying to get this thing dunked haha.

The problems i'm having is just because the rear seems extremely complex to get everything out and such. I got one off the other day, but then i couldn't get the bolt on the top off. It needs an allen key to hold the screw while i loosen it, but its INSANELY tight. so i couldn't even get it off. Just wondering if anybody else had any tricks or anything to help me out.

Re: Spring problems

it's as simple as you have described it to be...alan key on the top and a wrench.
if the skunks are about 2" drop, you might want to go full suspension (struts and all).

Re: Spring problems

I agree the skunk 2 springs have more of a aggressive drop than my sportline springs I think something like 2.2 front & 2.5 rear so if I was you I would do a shocks & springs together save time & money

Re: Spring problems

so I manned up today and got all of the springs installed. There's only thing that is bugging me... the rear is about 1.5 inches higher than the front and it creates a weird angled look. Is this what happens with all of the Skunk2 springs??? My front is SLAMMED and my rear is lowered just a little. Just wondering...

Re: Spring problems

give it some time to settle down, it will lower itself a bit depending on the rate of the springs.

Re: Spring problems

^^ there won't be much of a problem temporarily. 1.5" drop is not a big difference, however, try to avoid bumps and manhole covers as much as you can. If you're going to be keeping it for the long run, I would definitely suggest upgrading the shocks sometime in the near future.
cheers
