HID or aftermarket bulbs?
i want to get the blue/purple look with my headlights. I was concerned that I might get ticketed for the HID conversion. Is there a HID kit that is street legal and still provides the colored look. If not, and i have to go with Aftermarket bulbs what are some brands to go with and what are some of the light outputs that will be street legal? I only care about low beam. For my high Beam i will be putting something illegal.Thanks.

if you want HID, go with a 6000K set of bulbs. I'd say go with HID cause it's worth it in the long run. the bulbs will last you more than 5 years if you install it correctly and you don't misuse it.
Cheers

you won't be giving up your highbeam. Alot of the kits out there right now are plug and play, so you'd be replacing your lowbeams only. I'm not sure if in Georgia 6000K is legal or not but BMW's come stock with 6000K and i think Audi's come with 6500K, so yeah it's legal. Just make sure you adjust them properly so that they're not way too bright or too dim.
In terms of brand, i've heard good things about Prolumen. I'm using factory Mercedes HID kit with 4300K Philips Bulbs. McCullough is good too.

i had a similar question.. and the only way i could really get a right answer was to ask an officer... and get his name. so if another cop sais you cant.. you can at least say that you had permission before hand....
i did that with my undercar Led's

Thanks guys. I will definitely go with the HID. I always liked the look of HID. I know a cop here too but I dont think he knows too much he will probably give me a vague answer like : "jus make sure its not too bright".. But anyway thanks.

I have the stock '03 HID lights and they seem too low. They don't go out far enough in front. I have become used to it, but it is still frustrating at times. I had the dealer look at it once and they didn't find anything wrong. Is this a common problem and does anyone know how to adjust.
Also, does the headlight position adjuster work? It doesn't seem to make any difference. |

thashanty there is a white adjuster on the headlights to the side you need to adjust that. There is a certain requirement for the cut off ref the lights can't remember the distance you have to be away from a wall + the verticle cut off distance. If you are unsure take it to a mot centre for calibration see of they can quicky do this for you for some cash or beer doesn't take long 5 mins max take off the stock engine plastic cover before hand save a bit of time. You can also use the headlight levelling rotary switch if it works to raise them up a little.
-------------------------------- I've got Techone 6k HIDs low beam + high the low beams from http://www.mod-express.com in the US made hell of a difference to driving alot better than the stock plug and play... if any of you want them current price I think is $230 USD email George mention my user name and he should be able to help also will lower the invoice so you guys don't have to pay tax hope this helps.

I have Helios HID (Xenon Storm) H7-5000k. They do light up blue at first, then a minute into warming up, they become pure chrystal white. |

They are many available, range from 250-350. Make sure yours are plug-and play, with no modifications. |
