TRD Exhaust
Hi, I just recently bought my '00 Celica GT. I'm 16 so i dont have the best paying job, so when I bought the car I had no money for upgrades. Now I have 1k and figure its time to not have a boring stock car anymore.
Everyone says get the TRD exhaust, but I have a question. Is the TRD exhaust really loud? I cant stand the people who have the 3" loud as can be tip on there civic. I dont want my car to be able to be heard from 2 blocks away like those civics. How much louder does the TRD exhaust make your car? Or, should I get a different exhaust, like flowmaster or something else? Thank you |

go with trd... their both good.. but thats my opinion.
after your exaust.. throw in a cold air intake.. that will give you some good reverberation. and everyone loves that noise.. yum.

Yes the TRD exhaust is one of the quieter ones out there and has one of the most HP gains. I think the price of one of these tin can's in the US is not bad (usually around $500-600) but it's hard to find one that price in Canada (I'm talking about the one with the extended tip).

unless you somehow find the TRD "kazooma" if you want to keep a low profile this is not the one for you.

Recommend Rod Millen. Five years old, run daily and in awesome shape for the age. Definitely louder than the TRD. I know TRD is the favoured setup on these cars, but after hearing many samples inside and out, I cannot understand why. The TRD is very slightly louder than stock to my ears. The RMM, developed with assistance from TRD, just gives it a really nice tone. You pays your money, and you wants your sound. fwiw. (Not slagging the TRD, it's my problem that I don't get it. :-) )

I looked at it again to make sure everything was right, the only thing I noticed that I didn't before was that it says it is the extended length. Does that just mean your exhaust tip sticks out farther then? Cuz actually I can get the standard length one for a little less.

TRD is nice. Not the loudest thing going. The sound doesn't really pick up until 3000 rpms. So it's nice when you want to sneak home at 4am in the morning. Also, it has a nice deep sound, not the "angry bee in a tin can" like all the fart cans that are standard on the ricer civics.

HKS is not > TRD. TRD = more peak horsepower and torque, and its numbers are higher then HKS throughout the dyno.

Thats a good price for the TRD assumbe thou USD and not CAD ? Personally I would recomment RMM same as what Dgordon and myself have better sound than the TRD, gains very similar but the only drawback is the weight at 29lbs, could have been made lighter. Still the TRD is a great exhaust you will love it.
