"Sleeping Sickness"

One night, about a month ago, after a late night at work, I get In my car and start up the 7A-FE, I noticed that when I turned the wheel that there was a loud(Not hella loud, just loud enough to hear) whistling noise, I kinda get freaked out cause Im broke and would not be able to afford any repairs. So the next morning I go to Kragen's, and they tell me that Its my power steering pump and that It might be going out. My neighbor told me to put transmission fluid In the power steering, so I tried that, and the noise went away, but now Its back. I asked my dad's friend, Who Is a mechanic, and he said that the whistling noise Isnt uncommon, They call It, "Sleeping Sickness", and that Its ok. So, Having read this, Has anyone else with a 6GC had this happen?
