Dyno run following engine rebuild...
Plan has always been to allow the engine at least 5000kms before unleashing the boost controller fully, but I also wanted to ensure that the engine would last that long. So off to the dyno this morning to check to ensure that the fuelling etc was okay - especially as the ignition timing had been advanced quite a bit and the TPS altered to help control the idle (due to the HKS cams).
A gentle first run saw a lot of knocking above 5000rpm so the ignition was back off by some 4 degrees and another run undertaken. While there was still some knocking above 5k, it was nowhere near as bad. Not something that was very worrying at this stage as I am keeping the revs below 5k anyway during the running in period. I will, however, be placing an order for an Apexi FC and geting that fitted before the revs and boost are increased. All was not bad however. Despite low boost and keeping ther revs down, we still saw nearly 200bhp @ wheels :D Certainly bodes well for the future  Here is the dyno chart with 283kms on the rebuilt engine... ![]() And as a referrence, here is a dyno from last year when mods were a Profec B EBC, 2.5" exhaust (inc decat & DP) and TOMs panel filter... ![]() Gary |

Well.
Considering I'm completely retarded when it comes to reading dynos. Can someone help me by telling me the before and after HP? Because, you know, I'm american and I don't know wtf any of that is.

ny boys need to get an education or read the fine print (hp to the right of the chart) and 1 Nm = 0.737 lb-ft
Gary, kudos my man.... very impressive first results... once you have her broken in and spooling like mad i am sure it will be a force to be weary of... did you mesure air temps at all? whats your goal for pressure later on? i would love to see her at 2 bar.

Might want to check those locations again, bud. I'M from NY, he's not. I wasn't the one confused. I will freely admit that my above post was really nothing but boredom-induced spam.
So, i guess Nebraska boys need to get an education or read the fine print (hp to the right of the chart) and 1Nm = 0.737 lb-ft. Sauga City boys need to read the fine print below the graphs to get their air temps and humidity measurements as well. GT4WRC, this i couldn't figure out.... is there anywhere on those graphs that show RPMs rather than road speed? <EDIT> Ok, i kindof got it. The gear the pulls were done in was 3rd, so i just have to convert from there. |

you think i care about those?
i mean the engine temps... after having fitted diffrent pistons and rings and running on new setup with an sntilag setup i was wondering if stock cooling would be sufficent or if more than one rad would be used to keep the block and head's temps down while being filled with high temprature compressed air...... the humidity and air temps are regarding air density and could be elevation based but they have been corrected, (see the last part of the fine print?) the question i had was aimed more towards the intrest of his plans when it comes to reliably putting out that kind of power. haveing run into heat issues in a NA 2.2L setup in the celica and knowing that the dual core offered with the gt4 was often refered to as a poor selection by toyota. sorry man...but nice try... still gary, about coolant? plans? i have heard talk of custom setups involving the CSF rad and 4 FAL fans that are more than enought to cool hell to a nice liveable temprature and with a high flow thermo... anyways.. i am rambling... fill us in

Nice try what? You asked for air temps, blatantly. If you wanted engine temps, then ask for it. Excuse me for being a little snot not unlike yourself when you jumped on msproskater for asking for HP numbers. My apologies though, i'm done shitting in this thread.

While the Group A spec 4 does have most of the antilag bits as part of the homologation rules, done of it actually works. No intention either to have it working - will get far too expensive having to replace turbos and manifolds every few weeks :(
OE radiator has been replaced with a Koyo item. Constructed from aluminium, it is twice the thickness of the Toyota rad and I am using twin Kenlow fans for extra cooling. Future plans also include a larger and thicker core for the WAI pre-rad. Depending on the eventual dyno tune up, am potentially looking at around 20 - 24psi boost. Gary |

Would something like this be legal in what you'd be racing it in?

that system would only add more heat and kill more clutches
