97ST converted to GT-4?

I am such a n00b. But can this be possible? Has this been done? I really want to upgrade my ST to GT-Four. Would it be a waste of my time trying to upgrade? Would it cost more $ to try and convert to gt-4 instead of just buying one? Thx for your help in advance!

then u should have bought a gt, and won the lottery. Any yes if you bought a gt-4 it would cost you less then attempting it.

Why make a car you can buy? Get a GT-4 then start working on it.

Import from Japan/Europe.
If you can't even find the car, how do you find the parts to do the swap?

Motors are easy to source. Cars in Japan can only be driven a certain amount of Km, then they need to be replaced or rebuilt, for emission reasons. Thats why they send the motors to NA. Tiger Japan motors gets them sometimes. I was going to buy a CS 3S-GTE before I sold the car, but the amount of work and time needed was way beyond my means. You need a lot of time to do these projects, and need a stable daily driver, for means of steady transportation.

public transit is steady you know what time it is going to be there, but you can't get up and go like you need to, on top of the fact it takes extra time with all the stops but still more reliable.

You can pay to import the whole car, get a vin from another car and swap them out, you would have to put the motor, suspension and frontend back to gether but it can be done.

Or you can spend about 20 to 30 grand and convert a car to awd & turbo, but why not just spend 7 to 14 on one that came that way to begin with

He wants a GT-4 not a GT-2. See the different? Its not just the engine.

also...6th gen GT-4s cant be brought over untill 2009. Canadian law states that a car cannot be brought from another country over seas unless it meets 1 or 2 criterias. One, it passes all canadian safety and emession standards from factory, and/or the car is over 15 years of age, to the month(ie right now u can only bring over say..a skyline GTR from 90, if its made before november). The only way you can really bring a car over if its less than 15 years of age is if you get the motor, interior, and suspention shipped over taken off the car and then ship the shell seperately. Then its considered a kit car because it has to be fully put together again. Costs a hell of alot of $ but its how u could get a 6th gen GT-4 here right now.

Plus, the rear end is different on the 6th gen ST/GT/GT-S. The AWD system from the GT4 will not fit into your car unless you do some serious modifications to the frame, pretty much everything. It IS possible, anything is, but it won't be easy, or inexpensive.

if you have enough money anything is possible...realistic, maybe not, but still possible.

cool idea...I guess
Is it worth the attempt...hell no!

example of stupid uses for money...
1. Putting a different brand of motor in a car (eg. domestic v-8 in jap car.)
I thought about this when I first bought my celi...I was gonna but a chev, smallblock 350 in it, (seen it somewhere)...then I realized, there are better ways to do upgrades (eg 22rte, supra ct26 turbo, 25 psi :D )

2. Trying to convert FWD to AWD when you're options are : import all parts from japan, chop away at current car, worry about all that could go wrong...or just import the car you want, (whether as a kit car or not) for a fraction the hassle...which would you choose??

my 5 cents, take it as it is

You can't convert it to a GT4, but you can at least have the engine :)

Check out the first link here:
