i have a 97 yota celi i love my car i bought it for about 3800 from a guy who needed to get rid of it so i guess i got a good deal except for after i got it home and started driving it i foudn out he didnt take care of it so ive been putting money into it since i bgouth it oh well u get what u paid for and i wont let go of my celi heres what she looks like.

she has a few messed up areas on the body so im wanting to put opn a body kit so ne help with that would be great also shes very very very slow so what you all think i can do to boost the horse power for my celi im only 19 and goign to school full time so i dont have much spare cash i gots a new exhaust (sp) on it and im in the process of getting a cold air intake for it which im thinking about just cheating and removing the stock air box and just putting my own home made one on which seems to work just as good bt not look as pretty but oh well i also wanna see what u think is a good choice of rims tires and any other mods i can do for my car im pretty much set up to do everything my self which isnt bad for being a jurnalism student lol i guess im just very good with this stuff i have no idea but i love it and wrenching calms me down after a hard day of school and work i end every night playign with smethign on my car lol oh well mk every help me out plz

Not much you can do beside engine swap or turbo.
Your engine is 1.6L 7A-FE with 115HP.
Save your money for swap or turbo, don't do anything to it now.

being a student with a limited budget,id say you have to assess your priorities
would u rather go fast or look good?

the car is automatic and already someewhat underpowered to begin with
any bolt on mods you put on will give mild increase if any....if you swap or turbo it you are looking at a very detailed and costly project either way you look at it, then at the end of the day its still auto and you would probably want to convert it to standard...again costly

now as for looks, i think the car looks great...i like the colour a lot. I would say appearance wise you could put on a mild lip kit, lower it and maybe get some wheels and the car will look great...which would probably cost less then turbo/swap

the other thing that you mentioned is that you have had to fix quite a bit parts, so my suggestion there would be to upgrade the part as you need it, this way you build up the quality of the car over time.

It really depends on what you want out of the car,i personally would sell the car before i swapped/turbo. I would just do some exterior mods and do some bolt on upgrades overtime..

for wheels i would do something like this

or maybe something like this

because of the colour of your car you got some good options
silver, bronze, gunmetal, and black would all look nice
