airbag dashlight came on, funny burning smell

Hello, i have a 94 celica gt and yesterday the airbag light on the dash came on and stayed on while driving. then about 5 min. after pulling away i notice a burning hot smell, kind of like burnt plastic or wires. anybody know what I should be checking out for this? burnt out fuse?
