rebuild engine

I have a 1998 celica gt and it has 140k and In the next year I would like to rebuild my engine. The only problem is Im not sure what kind of after market parts I should use to rebuild. I am will to spend up to $3,000 on just rebuilding the engine.Any suggestions on aftermarket part would be great!

Thanks for the help-Keegan : :D

buy a 3sgte head and bolt it onto your 5s bottom end!

btw if you only have 140K on the motor you most likely will not need a rebuild for around another 100K... just keep up on regular maintenanc

With all the wireing involved In the motor swap I am thinking the price to be around 3,500.I also found out that my Transmission will not fit the 3sgte .Does that sound correct to you? (I have a 1998 celica gt)
Thanks -Keegan

Who tell you the tranny doesn't match? If its the shop you gonna do the swap with, go find another one. All S series tranny are interchangable. Of course you'll need wiring and ECU for the 3S-GTE.

$5000 is a good estimate to have it done at a shop. Lets say you start with a clip for about $2200 which is a good price. You need to add at least $800 for an exaust putting you at $3000 then you add labour and the misc stuff and your damb close to $5000.

If your doing it yourself $3500 is about right. $2200 for clip $800 exaust and $500 for the bullshit. I believe Tyrone did his swap for right around $3500 (himself) same goes for Andrew (boosted_GT)
Mine is looking like its closer to $4000..... $650 for the motor $1800 for the rebuild $800 for exaust $400 for IC and piping and another couple of hundred at canadian tire on brake cleaner and paint 'n shit

$10,000 is wayyyyyy to much!

I just called my local gear heads and they said that it would be about $10,000 to do a 3sgte swap.So I have decided that it is not worth it. I want to rebuild my engine with all new parts including low compression pistons new everything basically. Then put a turbo on it. I am looking for good quality parts but I don't want to spend more then $5,000 $.Is this a relatively simple task to rebuild a motor like this?-(I have a 1998 celica gt) Does $5,000 sound about right? thanks for the help-keegan :D
