Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

Well to actually do that you would have to bypass your neutral saftey switch but I don't recomend this. in most states its illegal and if you do its risky if your car is in gear(standards) it will launch forward stalling then the remote starter will keep restarting the car over an over until u shut the remote starter off by hitting the brake usually it won't allow u to stop it until the vehicle is running slowly but effectivly moving hitting anything in its path u can c how this could be problem

Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

I'm playing around with the idea of installing a remote starter on mine (manual tranny). I figured out how to bypass the clutch, but unless I find a way for the starter to require the car be in neutral I will not do it. I always leave it in neutral (no hills around here), but who's to say a friend won't leave it in 1st, or reverse?

I see directed electronics has a kit, 698m I believe, that will bypass the clutch and make it so the car has to be in neutral, emergency brake engaged before the motor attempts to crank, but I would really like to do it myself. Well I already got info on the clutch thing, but without the neutral requirement it's not going to do me much good.

Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

Ok what I want is for the car not to start if a gear is engaged, and for the emergency brake to be up... although that's kinda redundant since if I park a car in neutral and don't pull the emergency break, then I shouldn't even be driving, much less installing alarms/remote starters.

I would rather not buy the kit, I'm more of a d-i-y kinda guy, at least as much as I can. My transmission needs some love and I wish I could take care of that myself, but sadly someone else will enjoy that :(

Anyways, I'm rambling here; I just want somehow to ensure the remote starter will not try anything if the car is in gear.

Ooops! just saw your edit, well I don't have any clear ideas now. I've been doing some research on the matter, but really my expertise installing remote starters is limited to being able to follow instructions, I've installed the 2 that I tried fine. Basically if you have an idea I should be able to implement it... I know, I know I'm a knowledge sucking leech, you'll get used to it LOL!

USA Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

Ok I was thinking you have to set up some type of relay based circuit (12v) so that when the shifter is engaged it basically shorts the switch / relay and shuts off power to the remote starter it shouldnt be to hard to come up With something ill draw something up later in the next cupple weeks as I don't have a standard that can experiment with at the moment give me bit of time ill get this squared away and draw up some schematics for possible setup I've got it mapped out in my head at this point but no car set it up an work out the bugs on at least in town my other 2 cars are at my place outside of town.

That would be awesome, I'll probably start installing the alarm today, and finish it tomorrow since I probably won't have enough daylight to do the whole thing. I'll get whatever I can done in the 'til then... I was alreay half giving up on being able to set it up anyways, so whenever you can think of something I'll appreciate it

Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

Ok I was going to attempt to install the alarm this past weekend (weather hasn't been to kind on weekends) but I ran into some trouble identifying wires.

Ignition switch harness is the harness to the right of the steering wheel, and steering column harness is the one to the left, the lock module is that box with a harness hooked up to it (blue in my case), and as far as the kick panel goes... there's a few harnesses there, and I saw a few liked colored cables, though maybe I just didn't notice the line properly.

Anywho, if you could verify this info for me I'd appreciate it. I'm not too well versed with a multimeter (nor did I have one available last week), but I'll have one ready for next time.

Re: Wiring diagrams for all our vehicles (alarm systems)

It's a 95 GT. Driver's side had all panels off (except for the door's)
I'm assuming this is the ignition harness, to the right of the steering wheel.

Steering column harness, to the left. Also there's two harnesses on the left side. If I find my wire on either one it should be ok?

and this little sucker is the lock module

Granted I was looking at the wiring diagrams from 12volt and some other place before I remembered you had posted yours, and I do notice some differences between all 3.
