1995 GT Celica Reverse lights
Hey guys, I've had this issue with my car since I bought it. The reverse lights never came on until recently. I figured it was just a blown fuse or loose wire. But I was backing up one night and noticed I could actually see. After fiddling with the shifter it started to flicker on and off. So my question is:
Is there a reverse sensor in the housing for the shifter, and if so has anyone had any experience in fixing or modifying it? I can't think of it being anything else other than some type of a sensor that would do that. What do you guys think? |

Re: 1995 GT Celica Reverse lights
On my 97 5spd there was a sensor on the trans. i found out that the wires were broken off the harness. I resoldered the wires when i did my clutch.
Not sure about autos, but I'm sure there is something like it too. |

Re: 1995 GT Celica Reverse lights
yea, its gotta be a lose wire or somethin. haven't really looked into it all that much since i figured if i bopped the top of the knob the lights turn on so i figure either the cables broke or the reverse clip like celly_ca01 said. I actually wanted to look into rewiring the lights and add a few of my own while I was at it. That was almost at the beginning of the year. I decided to move out of the `rent's attic though

well like i said, haven't really looked into it. Figured it was just like the others said. Faulty connection or broken cable. Sounds like it's a common problem so that's most likely your issue. I've taken the center console apart before and it actually worked a bit more than usual after that so my prob is more than likely the faulty connector. good luck with your fix though! |
