AS OF NOW
![]() Hey guy's Been posting, and reading thru the forum for a while now, and I've learned alot. Still picking up what I can because with all the threads started on the same questions over and over it can be misleading at times. But anyway to the point...I've been in the market for a 6gen Celica for some time now, ran across one but the seller backed out from the deal and sold it the day before I was suppose to go pick it up . So moving on I'm back on the road to purchase a 6g again. This time around I came across a 96 Celica ST 25th. Anniv. for $850 or BO. Only issues is it was in a minor accident. The front bumper is a must change headlights as well, everything else intact (exterior wise). Interior well, airbags deployed, and you know what happens when they deploy on this car, yep windshield was cracked as well. So that will need replacing.Guy got the quote on how much it will cost to fix all of these issues and he said his mechanic/bodyman will do it all for about $450-500. But I think I can fix it for less. Well here are the pics, tell me what you guys think, oh and I kinda forgot -Engine Untouched -Runs Good, drives just as well -160,000miles -Paint is quite new -5speed ***Wheels not included, so it will be on black steely's*** Buy or pass? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
lol dude you gotta give people time to respond, its not always automatic, let me go home from work and take a look at the pics, the only problem i would have with the car is the fact that its a ST. motor really aint worth anything. but your getting a frame for cheap. so it maybe worth it. theres afew things your gonna have to look at. id make sure to look at the motor mounts to see if the engine shifted also check the radiator for cracks and leaks. i would also see if you can take it to a frame specialist to see if the frame is tweaked at all....

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
Sorry lol, I'm seeing the car this weekend and I'm about 100% positive I'm gonna buy it. I just don't want to go and buy something that isn't worth it. I want to make sure everything's right the first time and not be sorry later.
As for it being an ST I really don't mind that since it's gonna be a daily driven about 3hr round trip everyday M-F after Aug. 5. Plus I really like the looks of a 6g, so as of now I'm mainly interested in it since it's really clean except for the issues I stated, and also due to I need a cheap and reliable daily. As for the part's about how much would you say the airbags would run me, and to have them installed?

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
After lookin at it. Body doesn't seem bad. But I can see the header so you don't have a radiator or ac condenser. Sence your buying it take more detailed pics of the front end and ill see what I can find. I personaly would try to get the guy down on the price alittle a radiator at napa is gonna cost u 100 and your gonna need a bumper. So yeh heh but hey u could get a bodykit

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
How much would you say is a reasonable price? I didn't notice it was in need of a radiator, as well as the bumper cross member. What would you say about how much I would have to pay to have this replaced and is that stick like thing in front of the car where the radiator should be, is it suppose to be bent like that?

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
You should try to get him down to like 4-500. Cause it seems like you're looking at over a thousand dollars in repairs.
Will you even be able to drive the car away with no radiator? Also it doesn't look like it has any sort of active headlights and you said yu have 3 hour round trip drive every day. So I'd use that to make him drop the price a bit too. No night time driving is really a big pain in the ass. Personally I would just pass up on it altogether and look for one that isn't going to need to go straight into the shop. Then again I live in Los Angeles we have lots of cars here so it wouldn't take me long to find another. I have no idea if it would take you long to find another 6th gen Celi. |

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
Well obviously there's problems with this car. I couldn't tell you how long it would take exactly it get all this stuff or the price. But im going to guess approx 1000 to 1500. What I would do is goto a junkyard and pull everything that I need. And put it on the car. Its going to be a lot cheaper. And that way you can get a full bumper. Headlights.. BUT I would not I say again I would not get the radiator from the junkyard.
And calum he could drive it but. I give him about 3 miles then poof

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
first thing you need to figure out is if you can source parts from a junk yard to fix it. If there are 6th gen's in yards near you with parts you should be OK otherwise you need to walk away. An airbag alone could cost you a fortune if you can't source the parts

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
Thanks for the response guys, well he found all the parts for me, windshield, radiator, lights, bumper, and air bags for a total of $450. I'm just gonna check around under junks or craigslist, I think I might find it slightly cheaper but if I don't , I think it's very cheap as it is.
I'm just stuck on the radiator, where would be a good spot to get an OEM or an aftermarket one? And is it bad to turn it on without the radiator? I won't be driving it back home, the guy's giving me a chance to replace everything on his driveway up till a month from now. To have the window replaced it's costing me -$140 Airbags (labor), are being taken cared of by me and family mechanic- Free Bumper, lights (doing myself) - Free Radiator might tell him as well but if not what should I be expecting for labor? So does this sound like a decent buy ?

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
subspec said something about the Napa Radiator being $100 so I might go for that. Sounds easy to replace .
Anyway I'm a new proud owner of a 6gn might sell it.r w.e is bent so I have to replace that. Hood is also in need of a replacement not really nessiOh and yea paint was basically new clearcoat is peeling on the passenger fender though, frame is still good, lights as well, just the tabs on some were broken so i can still use them, bumper is still good but the cross member bent, so I need that, as well as the hood well not really it's decent. We manged to turn on the car without the radiator, but we turned it off once it got near the half point mark where it shows the temperature , it drives good, idles peacefully no shaking, vibrations or noise. Clutch is still good as well , tranny is in good cond. as well no popping out of gear or grinding. Interior is flawless like new overall I think it's not a bad buy. I'm happy Will take pics tomorrow.

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition

Re: 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th. Anniversary Edition
Thanks guys, crossing fingers for no surprises
Well I'm getting the car over her in a couple hours. And about the rims he wants $900 so thats a little too much for me. I hated how they looked in the pic but in person I swear it just flows with the cars look. I love them but no money and I rather have a moving car then a nice looking no moving car. Thanks again guys PICS TOMORROW WELL LATER TODAY.
