faulty ABS when car first starts

Usually when i start my car the first time that i use the brakes, the ABS kicks in for about 5-10 seconds. usually i have to put a little pressure on it before it will kick in, but until i have been activating the ABS by braking harder for at least 5-10 seconds until it ends, it will keep turning on when i start to brake. I was wondering if i had a faulty ABS system, or if there was an easy way to repair/check this problem.

Re: faulty ABS when car first starts

if your ABS comes on when its not supposed to check your wheel bearing. they might be bad

Re: faulty ABS when car first starts

funny you would say that, i just got them replaced on a (seemingly) unrelated problem.

edit: Only the front passenger side had the bearing changed, is there an easy way to check if the other one is messed up? or if there are bearings in the back that could affect it, please let me know. I have virtually no knowledge of how the ABS works.

Re: faulty ABS when car first starts

there are abs sensors on all four bearings. noramlly if u take it to a mechainc they will be able to tell you which one it is. if its not that then it might be your pump..in that case just leave abs alone(it will be too much to fix)
