Re: MR2 3s-gte Motor.
If you have the 5S-FE then the swap is not that hard. The motor will fit and it go with your tranny no prb. Only question will be how long that tranny last with 200lbs of turq. Do a quick search for celica swap 3S-GTE and see what you find.
Just a quick Note, the Celica was built for the 3S-GTE, the MR2 borrow it from the Celica.

Like locker is suggesting the mr2 tranny is substantially stronger than the 5sfe. unfortunately it does not just bolt up. You will need to source quite a few alltrac parts. including engine mounts, shifter calbes, transmission brackets, and some other stuff you may or may not get with the engine. I do have an mr2 lsd transmission available |

Re: MR2 3s-gte Motor.
He could also go with the V6 camry transmission. Again even though some of the parts need to be source its only a few and need it be, it can be bought from a local dealer. Again the labor is what I'm trying to get to when I say its not a hard swap to do. Using the MR2 Turbo tranny is the hardest part of the swap in my opinion but the best option.

Re: MR2 3s-gte Motor.
Well, I am not sure if my car has that kind of tranny. I am new to the celicas. How much work is involved with doin the swap. Is it a weekend thing or a week thing? I have been told its easy and it can be difficult. So, I am up in the air now.

Re: MR2 3s-gte Motor.
There are how too's posted somewhere on the site.
Its not a "difficult" swap... it is a direct bolt in but the difficulty is really detirmined by how good you are at working on cars. I mean this isn't a direct replacement motor its a completely different motor your putting in your car. You have to do a bit of wiring ensure you have all the 3sgte specific parts and a bunch of other stuff. If you were a mechanic with a few friends the swap could be done in a weekend. Many take much longer than a week to complete though
