Exclamation Stoping power

hi i have a celica 94 coupe with a 3sgte swap. my oem brakes suck and i wanted to know if i can put a bigger brake conversion like putting the brake of a RAV4 or a tacoma to replace the oem ones. i know a big brake kit will be better but it is to much $$$ over here in P.R but you think it's possible to do this type of brake conversion thankxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Re: Stoping power

What pad are you using? Usually better pad will solve the problem.
If you got a ST, try swapping GT/GTS brakes with rear disc.

Re: Stoping power

Are we talking about the pads or rotors here?

For pads, are they Ceramics, Carbon-alloy or "Greenies"? Which OEMs are you using right now?

Maybe you don't have access to the same stuff over there, but I was advised to use Toyota's replacement pads whenever possible. The OEM ceramics I got from NAPA Auto Parts, which are supposedly made to dealer specs, didn't seem to perform nearly as well the ones I got through the dealer, and I burned through them about 50% faster. Only problem is, the NAPA pads are $23~$30 for a set (I wish I had my receipt to be sure) and the dealer wants just under $60 after tax.

If you do the math, you might say it's more cost-efficient to go with the OEMs, but I know how dire good pads are since I've been in a lot of close calls. IMO, performance beats penny-pinching.

Re: Stoping power

^He got a 3S-GTE swap, not stock. OE pad will heat up and fade unless he drive like a grandma.
I don't think he swap a turbo to drive like a grandma.
