Found my cruise control problem, how do i fix it?
Ever since I bought my celica my CC has worked randomly at best. Well, after replacing my courtesy light switches, I discovered where my problem is. The back right speak where all the plugs and wires are. If I wiggle those, my CC will work every time. The problem is I cannot secure the wires in a postion that they will work.
My question is, if I just use some speaker wire and splice and replace all the wires in that section, will everything still work? Each splice would probably replace an 8-10 inch section of the area. Is wire, wire? Or do i need to just call Toyota and try to order whatever harness it is. I am also not sure which wire it is exactly. I am pretty sure it isnt any of the actual speaker wires, but I know nothing about electrical components so I suppose my cruise control could be tied into the speaker wire somehow. TIA |

One of those wires must be to a brake light. If a brake light is out or wire to brake light is broken CC will not work. flylice13 is right that any wire of same gauge will work. Just do a neat job of splicing and you should be cruising again.

Well I took everything apart again today. There is a plug that is obviously my speaker wires. Then just below that there is another plug. It is coming from the the back of the speaker wire plug, and has one red, and one white wire that runs up towards the rear washer hose. It is NOT connected to anything, and there isn't anything to connect it to.
Is that 'extra' wire for System 10? I dont have that. All my rear brake lights work, could that still be the problem somehow? Where would I begin checking those wires? None of the wire housing looks to be visibly damaged, but I suppose something could still be broke inside the coloured part. It doesnt appear to me that any of the wires I am dealing with have anything to do with my brake lights at all. Are those the wires that run under the middle of the backseat? |

After reading through a link I was given in a previous topic, I think it is either going to be a wiring harness or my CC ECU. Where is my CC ECU and how do I check it to see if it is working?
