I bought a
Shift Knob from crutchfield the other day thinking that it was alot easier to install than it actually is. Have any of you installed one of these before/have any tips for me when I install it over the weekend?
Basically I need to mount the actual shift knob and have the ribbon wire go through the boot and into the column to a power source (12v). I'm not sure exactly where I am going to find a power source from, worst case I could just get rid of my cig lighter (or split it) and then just take power from behind the cig. I also am thinking that I'll put the programable piece (the infared sensor that programs the buttons on the shiftknob and syncs them up with the remote's program) in the little arm rest compartment somehow. I do need some tips on what the best way to put these wires around the transmission without risking anything getting in the way would be, any tips on where to get power from, and how I could get the sensor into the arm rest compartment (I'm thinking I could just drill 2 small holes for the 2 wires and it would be good enough).
