The 3S-FE is the GT motor for the 4th gen, FE is the head, the 3S-GE is the GT-S motor.

um... its quite simple actually. I've gone the other way 3sfe to 5sfe and the swap went great. I stiped the motor down to block and head and bolted all the original 3sfe stuff onto the 5sfe.

I'm also wondering if the 3S-GE would work it seemd to be rated at a higher horsepower for the same price but I haven't seen anything about that swap

yep same thing.... the 3sge is a dual overhead cam 2.0L. It also has a much better flowing intake mani than the 5s

Depends on what you want.
If you want NA and look for around or less then 200HP, 3S-GE. If you want more then 200HP, 3S-GTE. You can build a 3S-GE to 300+ but it'll cost 2-3 time as much as 3S-GTE. You'll need wiring and ECU for both swap so its not any easier with a 3S-GE. |
