Ignition on 5SFE

I've seen others talk about upgrading their ignition, hotter coil, wires, etc.

Thing is, the 5SFE has the small in-cap coil. How do you go about changing over to an external coil? And is the Nology Ignition Amplifier any good?

Thanks!

Mike.

You can modify the cap to use extarnal coil. You'll need to drill a hole on the cap and screw on a terminal to connect to external coil.

Unless you FI the engine or using high compression piston there is no point in upgrading ignition. Best you'll get is smoother idle.

Can you please tell me how you did that? I REALLY need to have an external coil, but don't know how to modify it. Is there a DIY anywhere, or some directions and parts list??
