Car Died while driving and now wont start

So im driving down the road at about 40 MPH and i had the radio on so i didnt hear anything but the car just lost power and i could see the rpms drop slowly but not that slow this all happened in about 3 seconds, so i pulled into a parking lot and tried to start it. The car turns over but wont start, i just bought a brand new battery 2 months ago. I also changed all the spark plugs and wires and fuel filter 2 months ago also. The car ran perfectly fine untill today. I have no clue what is wrong but i would appreciate the help

Jumper the pump. You should beable to hear a psh sound this is the fuel regulator passing fuel. Also might want to check the fuel pressure. Might be getting a low psi of fuel to your injectors.

Re: Car Died while driving and now wont start

Ok so i took a look at the fuel pump relay and the damn thing is already jumpered, i have been driving with it like that for 2 years and i have no idea how long the guy before me had it like that. But online said that you can jumper it for a temporary fix and this was obviously alot more than temporary. I also failed to mention that about 2 weeks ago my car started taking longer to start up as if it wasnt getting enough gas and would ilde lower than usual. So obviously its a problem with the fuel, so i obviously need a new fuel pump relay and since it was jumpered for probably 3 year, do you think it caused the fuel pump to go bad also.

Re: Car Died while driving and now wont start

Start with the relay, since you obviously need that anyway. If that doesn't fix the problem, make sure you check your fuse too. If it's good and your pump is easy to get at, check to see if you're getting power to the pump. If yes, run some wire from a battery to the pump and see if the pump works. If yes, clean your connection and try it again.

If the pump is harder to get to (such as having to drop the tank), I'd suggest ordering a new pump (preferably from somewhere where you won't have to pay a restocking fee if you don't need it) before going through the above steps.

Re: Car Died while driving and now wont start

pretty obvious question but you never know. does your gas gauge work? Make sure you have gas in the first place to start with. Check the easier things first and work your way to the harder things like fuel pressure and fuel pump. (fuel pump is pretty easy to access in our cars so your lucky)
