Removal of power steering pump.

I'm not that mechanically inclined, but I do have more knowledge than nothing. I own a 1991 Celica GT, and I just need some instructions on how to remove the power steering pump. If anyone could help that'd be great. Thanks:)

Re: Removal of power steering pump.

well theres two bolts. that physicaly hold it onto the block itself. once thos are removed. theres 4 lines, also might want to look into draining the power steering system.

Re: Removal of power steering pump.

heres some shots of the pump attached to the block. might help alittle.

you can kinda see the two bolts that physicaly keep it on. the one supply line i belive is a 19mm.

top pic pumps on the right hand side. only thing attached to the side of the block. bottom its on the left. right by the engine mount.

if you feel lost or confused please feel free to look at the BGB, links are in my signiture

Re: Removal of power steering pump.

I've removed the PS pump a few times in the car. its not easy but not hard. disconnect the lines at the top of the motor. remove right wheel. prepare your arm for bad scrapes and cuts as its in a tight place. there is a 14 at the top and a 17 on the bottom I believe. be careful not to break the black nipple thing

It's a tricky job and you'll need tools. I needed to remove engine mount and axle to get it out. Its easy with engine out. There is a black plastic switch with 2 vacum lines under the pump. Becareful and don't brake it.

I won't do it if you didn't work on car much.

I bet you ended up with many less cuts than I did. I refused to take shit out though it probably would have saved me time

Re: Removal of power steering pump.

Took me two weekends to get it out. First one was jack the car up lay under it and think
Impact gun helps because I can't get the pulley out when pump was attached. Pump won't come out with pulley on. So I just hold the pulley by hand and impact the nut off. It go back in reverse. There is just enough space to get it out.
