Cannot find 1992 Alltrac 3sgte engine swap in Toronto
I am currently trying to swap the 3SGTE engine out of my 1992 Celica Alltrac. My mechanic has received two engines from Japan and both had issues with some kind of emissions device on top of the engine, basically I would fail emissions testing. Does anybody know where I can find an engine for my car in Toronto, Ontario? I need a turbo to go along with the engine as well. Thanks for any help!

Try Tiger Japan Motors, Eagle Japan motors. Both those places normally have at least 1-2 in stock. I would suggest trying to get one from Tiger(Scarborough) Look them up online or yellowpages. Just make sure you specify exaclty what your looking for/parts you expect on the motor (ie alternator, harness etc)
I know Tiger had a 3rd gen 3S-GTE CS Edition Front Clip a while back. Good Luck

the emissions test should still pass...you would only fail a visual inspection, which is not very strict in Ontario anyways. I passed my e-test with a JDM 3SGTE using the stock JDM ECU.

First off, thanks for everyones help. So, everyone that has swapped there engine, in Ontario, has put a JDM engine in and has had no emissions failure/problems? I guess the JDM engine is the only solution I have anyways? I could be wrong but, I suppect that my mechanic can not 'legally' put in an engine with a defeated emissions device.

If you know someone who has a shop where they do emission testing, they usually charge $100, and give you a print out with someone elses diagnostics. Yes its more expensive, but if your car isnt going to pass, this is the way to do it, an under the table kinda deal is sometimes the route you have to go.

1- new plugs and 0 degree timing (also make sure you idle is around 700-800 rpm on a 5th gen which is 150 rpm+ lower than the stock 960rpm idle 2- air filter and oil change to be sure of the engine running smoothly and well lubed with as much air as needed to burn up the fuel (if you run a stock air box in a 5th gen, i would recomend adding a CAI just for the test, if you want to borrow mine i don't mind.) 3- injector cleaner and octane booster on ultra 94 for a 1/4 tank of gas till you are on Empty 4- fill the tank 1/2 way with race gas (OCF in streetsville will hook you up) and then run it for about a 30 minute drive before you go to the center. if you do that then fail then i will be VERY SUPPRISED assuming you don't have an exhaust leak or motor issues

Ok let me set u straight on this when i go for a emission test first thing i have to my advantage, When i brign my rpm up it has to stay between 1800 and 2500 which is normal but with rear wheel and front whell drive cars on the dyno the car is polluting. I am 4wd my car jstu sits there no stress at all on the motor there is no 4wd dyno emission machines that i know of. my test is also done in idle little next to nothign polluting.. second my car doesnt pollute that much unless its pass 23-2500 when my turbo kicks in adn the car has to be in motion in idle it doesnt really do much.. my car idles at 7-800 dependign on the weather outside.. and just for fun I I kept the rpm at 2400 to see if my car would fail the emission test which is at the limit before it will fail for rpms being too high.. thats one way the other way is at my bro shop they have some mixture that him and some of the shops in his area all use to help people pass emission for guys that fail it.. not sure what is in it but i know it works cause i have used it on my friend 89 all trac that was running way too rich and his seals were leaking.. You have to remember that no matter how much the government change rules and regulations there will always be someone who finds a way to bend the rule its just a part of life.. if you dont believe me thats your business i will be more than happy to show u my emission test i did better yet i will scan it and get it posted

ok there after the fregin 3 try it worked as u can see no cat it was done at canadian tire and it passed with flying colours.. So its your choice if u still want to call me a liar but there is my proof that i did it legally and not to anyoen that i know.. Although I coudl get it done for 200 but y bother when i can pay the regualr fee.. if you dotn have a alltrac i can see were the 3sgte motor might fail or that you require a cat cause they will put your car on the dyno and the turbo will kick in and then you will pollute..
So control one thats great your friend works at a emision centre and sorry that your GF failed with a four year old cat but there are so many more reasons why her car could fail its not only the cat that will make her fail... As for me lieing and talking BS I have proven to u that I am not..
