I have a 1993 Celica GT Convertible Automatic that randomly putters for a few seconds until you gas it more. Happens when it's standing still and when driving, feels like it wants to stall but never has. It's not predictable at all and is completely random. I can also hear the RPMs rising though the speakers, I wonder if this is related or a seperate issue? So far it has new plugs, wires, oil change.
What do you think could be causing this random puttering/power loss till the gas is applied more? Thanks! |

Re: Random Putter / Power Loss
my 91 gt-s did the same thing so not only would i get a new fuel filter but a new fuel pump it could be bolth. and it is always a good idea when getting a new one to replace the other too.

Quote:
i wouldnt necessarily say that. it all depends on the condition of your lines. the fuel pump has a built in sock/filter attached to it. that sock/filter prevents from tank rust and contamination. the fuel filter thats attached near the firewall prevents line rust/contamination from entering your motor/injectors fuel filter usualy runs about 14 bucks, a fuel pump anywhere from 50 to 100

Re: Random Putter / Power Loss
if he has subs installed. his power might be ran towards his stereo . this will cause a whiring sound sometimes.

Re: Random Putter / Power Loss
could also possibly be improper/faulty/bad grounds draining the system.
