emergency program when preasure

hey , i want to buy a nice gt4 for a fair price. Only problem: owner says there is some sensor damaged. I called him and he told me:

When under preasure (so i guess when accelerating hard) then the car gets put into the emergency program to not destroy the turbo.

Any ideas what could cause the problem? I thought the worst (and most expensive) case would be the ECU ?

thanks

Re: emergency program when preasure

I am not sure which the GT4 has but it could be a MAP/ airflow sensor going bad
