Re: 5SGTE build
Hey subspec LOOKING GREAT MAN!!
glad to see this is coming along, one of the very few celispeed guys who does what they say! Just to comments - is that a tube fin intercooler? I think your going to need some more thermal mass if you want to cool that intercooler charge. What are the specs on the core? -Please be very very accurate with the ARP head stud installation. it is CRITICAL to your MLS headgasket sealing. just some tips (you probably already know) - make sure the block threads are super clean, and you can run the arps all the way down to the same level, so that none of the studs are higher than the other. -clean the block threads with brake clean so you get any coolant, oil out of the passage, this is crucial to get the proper torque, engine oil/coolant will change the torque holding of the stud. - MAKE SURE your cams are out when your torque the head down, make sure you use the right socket(obviously) for the nut 12point 12mm. 65 ftlbs has worked as a maximum torque for me many times - ** coat the threads of the stud, the nut threads (and seating face) and the washers on BOTH sides with the ARP lube. This is the single most important step for your build, I use 4 passes on a machined head and block to torque them down 20ftlb increments. - also get some of the permetex copper gasket spray to use on your MLS headgasket. Apply a few light coats till its all covered, then one light coat right before out mount the head. make sure head and block are clean with brake clean and NO contamination!! Just some tips, use at your discretion. Cheers!!!! |

Re: 5SGTE build
The intercooler has a 30psi limit, thats just what its been pressure tested to.
Lock tite is a BIG no no!! You only use the ARP assembly lube on the head studs, follow the instructions and heed my tips, I have seen many headgasket failures using arp studs. |
