Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

This may be a dumb question, but i can't find the info myslelf. I want to compare the 5th gen alltrac to todays awd turboed vehicles. Anyone have any stats comparing these vehicles. What does the alltrac run in 1/4 mile? HP? Torque? any info would be helpful. Looking to purchase alltrac....but i need it to be able to compete with the prominent vehicles in my area.

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

You'll need a whack of mods to compete with an STI/EVO

1/4 in 15.7, 200hp 7lbs boost (should be able to run 12lbs for an added 30-40hp?)

minus drive train loss, you'd be lucky to score 200hp to the wheels with 12lbs on the ct26

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

they don't compare... sti's and evo's not only make about 100 hp more than a 3sgte's power plant but with horizontaly opposed motors and three lsd's an sti has more turning and stopping powere with it's low slug weight.... as for the evo... dream on... active limited slips and a variable timed head mixed with the potency of the 4g63's old tooth design in a new block has got it at the head of the mitsu line for all time.....

you wanna take those cat's on then you better plan some serious mods or look to a supra or something...

it's not a dumb question, but it's just one that would have required using comment comparisons of equipment...

look at power to weight, traction control systems and handling helpers when you are looking for 4wd fun.... i have a turbo talon tsi awd and as fun as it is with the parts i've put on it i'd still take an evo or sti any day of the week based on the tranny's and diff's

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

You might want to check on alltrac.net with some of the numbers a moded alltrac can run. Do remember that the STI and EVO are modify versions of a lesser car. With the same kind of tunning on a alltrac and a new and better turbo it can hold its own. The STI and EVO run a much higher boost plus its newer. The fastest 1/4 time for a stock alltrac was 15.3 quarter mile which was done back when the car was release. My alltrac stock with just a filter and exhaust has run the 1/8 mile in 9.4 which is good for a car that is using 18 year old technology and turbo.

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

All an alltrac needs to keep up is a little refreshment.
intercooler, boost, and waterinjection can get you a high 12's.

sti's are no big deal.

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

Stock to stock, no comparison.
Modified Alltrac to stock EVO? Maybe but what's the point?
Modified AllTrac to modified EVO? No way. What's the highest HP on a 3S-GTE? 500HP? What's on the 4G63? 900HP+!!!!!
As much as we love the AllTrac, its 17 years old. Even if you can beat the EVO in HP, you can't beat it in handling.
You want to beat it in 1/4 miles only? There are a lot more cheaper and lighter car you can use.

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

you're sorely mistaken if you think the highest hp 3sgte is 500hp ^^

I pretty much agree with Pineapple... you need a heavily modified Alltrac to compete with a stock Evo in any real test other than a straight line, but who the fuck thinks a drag race is a good way to compare cars anyways?

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

Like I said before, the EVO is modify from the factory. Take the alltrac and do the same modifications' and you'll get a good match. Just look at the ST205 which is pretty much the same car as the ST185. It's just a tad bit updated from the ST185 and it's a lot faster and handles better. Again, the STI and EVO stock boost are way higher then the alltrac, plus their engine reliably is not as good mainly due to the fact that it's modify 4G63T and WRX engine. As for handling it well not be as good mainly due to the fact that it's built in the 90s but shit who cares, it still handles better then most car out today.

If you think the max is 500hp on a 3SGTE then you really need to do some research on this engine.

Note: EVO stock boost is 19.4psi on a 2.0, STI is about 13 psi on a 2.4 liter engine, then we have the alltrac with the 3S-GTE boosting only 10 psi on a 2.0. The eclipse/talon ran stock 13.5 and up depending on generation also on 2.0. With this do the math about engine power.

Re: Alltrac vs. STI/EVO???

spitting numbers is great and all. But in my opinion there is nothing that the evo, or subaru is doing now that the alltrac was not doing back then. The 3sgte is a 1000 hp capable motor, ive seen it.

MR2 1/4 mile times

has a bunch of high hp mr2's but there are more 3sgtes that produce in the 900 whp range.

Turbo upgrade, and tune allows mine to take a sti on a roll, from a digg i dont have enough clutch.

BTW the st205 and st185 are completely different cars. Not anywhere as comparable as the st165 and st185
