Speed Sensor

Where is the speed sensor mounted on a 5sfe auto transmission? I looked, and I don't see it. A few of my friend's cars have the sensor right on top of the tranny with nothing in the way of it.

Should I jack the car up, and get to it from under the car?

He doesn't have shift cables....
It's an auto.

Don't bother removing the intake man either.
Its easier to get at it from the bottom.
Remove the large side to side crossmember, then reach up to the trans from there.

Can anyone post a pic of where exactly the sensor is located? I looked under the car, and still can't find it.

Follow your speedo cable down....
It's on the top/side of the diff.

I need to fix my speedometer. I think it's the sensor itself, but could be the cable. It works once in a blue moon, but shakes when it does. And it doesn't read over 40mph.

The speed sensor has nothing to do with the speedo.
It's 100% mechanical.
So either the cable, the speedo itself, or the gears in the trans.

Where does it connect into the tranny? I would like a pic of it if anyone has one.

I know it's not the speedometer, I've replaced it already.
